Conditions & Rules for 2007/2008
Season
NB These rules and conditions are to be read in conjunction with
the Narrabri & District Cricket Association Incorporated Constitution (available
from your club secretary.)

Laws of Cricket The association follows the general rules of cricket as formulated by
the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) 2000 Revision and ODI rules as applicable (Available
from the association secretary.) All games may be played with an optional
batting and bowling eleven and their
shall be no restrictions on when
a player may bowl or bat if he is named in the respective elevens. The
captain must name each eleven at the toss.

A player
cannot participate as a batsmen and/or bowler in more than one grade on
that day. Where a team nominates a batting and bowling
eleven prior to the toss and that team does not commence the match with twelve
players available then they may restore full playing rights to all eleven
players present by advising the opposing captain prior to the match commencing.
Where a player from second grade is required to leave
his grade to play first grade and twelve players were named in second grade the
player excluded from batting or bowling shall have full playing rights restored
provided the match has not commenced.
Notwithstanding anything in this clause a player may
participate with full playing rights at anytime in a match subject to the
opposing captain being advised of the players name and consent being granted.
A The registration forms provided are to
be fully completed and returned to the to score sheet box at the Tatts Hotel
together with $200 per team registration fees by 7.00pm on Saturday 13th
October 2007 otherwise teams not registered properly shall lose all points
gained until they are handed in correctly and fully completed.
B No
person shall represent a club as a player until he has been registered with the
Association.
C All
additional registrations must be completed on the approved Registration form
and forwarded to Longies Sportspower in person or by
fax to 67922714 prior to
D The
management committee shall have the power to accept or reject the registration
on any player.
E Any
club playing an unregistered player shall lose all points for the match in which
such player participated. The non-offending team shall gain maximum points
gained on the day by any other team in that grade.
F After
the commencement of the season new players to the Narrabri District and players
from defunct clubs must register with the management committee, and play with
the club directed by the management committee for that season.
G No
person shall play for more than one (1) club during the season; however the
management committee shall have the power to allow or reject the transfer of
players from one club to another during the season. In the second grade
competition if one club has an excess of players and the other team is short of
players with mutual agreement between captains the excess players can play with
the opposition with full player rights.

The management committee shall have the power to alter
the points allocations for any particular match should any side contravene the
Rules or the Code of Conduct.
A second grade side shall be deemed
to contravene the spirit of the game if they play first grade standard players
that the committee considers to be likely to dominate a match when they have no
first grade side playing on that day.

Ground Conditions
A If red
flags are displayed on wickets or red discs are placed in Council sign holders
outside the grounds, the grounds committee or Narrabri Shire Council have
considered the grounds unplayable. Additionally, a recorded message (67925922)
will be available after
B If
one ground is deemed unfit for play, all matches in that grade on that day will
be declared WASHOUTS.
C Once
play commences, if there is an independent umpire, the umpire shall determine
any change due to weather. If captains disagree the status quo will be
maintained.
A All First grade matches are to commence at
B In
the event of weather halting play and the allocated number of overs per team
being incomplete, the match will be declared a washout unless further play
leads to a result.
C If
a match starts late, one over will be deducted from the offending teams
allocated overs for every four (4) minutes lost.
D Teams
are given to
E Each
club must ensure there are at least an equivalent number of players in their first
and second grades on any match day where both teams are playing. First grade are
to play with the majority of players or second grade will forfeit points won on
that day.
7 Eligibility For The Final Series
To be eligible for the finals
series, players must participate in a minimum
of 33% of the games played rounded down to the nearest
game. Second
grade games will count towards first grade qualifications.
Where a club has both first and second grades
competing in the finals series on the same day any member of that club who has
qualified to take part in the finals series in accordance with these rules, may
play in second grade on that day if not selected to play in the first grade
team.
A player who plays in the second
grade final as a result of this
clause will be eligible to continue playing in the second grade grand final
regardless of whether his first grade side is playing on that day.
The both
sides are required to ensure the score sheet is fully completed and is provided
in the box at the Tatts Hotel no later than
Any player who has been selected in
a district team named in the paper
and who withdraws without a valid excuse may be suspended
by the
selectors for the following club game. Players being late for a
district match shall also be liable to suspension.
Only platypus four piece balls are
to be used in first grade and platypus two
piece balls are to be used in second grade.
A
A Maximum of 45
overs per team, with a maximum of nine overs per
Bowler. Up until the commencement of daylight saving, matches
shall be
40 overs per side
with a maximum of 8 overs per bowler. All second grade matches will be played over 40 overs with
a maximum of 8 overs per bowler.
No junior fast or medium pace bowler(defined
by one or both umpires as those to whom the wicketkeeper is standing back) is
permitted to bowl more than the number of overs in a spell, and the number of
overs in a days play as set out below.

B Drinks
Break of five minutes is to be taken every 15 overs or after 20 overs where a
40 over match is played.
C The
team bowling first must complete their allocated overs by 3.40pm. If
they do not achieve this, they must complete the remaining
overs, however
the team batting second shall be limited to the number of
overs completed
at
and the last wicket falls within 2 minutes of
team batting second shall be limited to the same number of
overs as the
team batting first (the over in which the wicket last
falls shall count as a
complete over).
D A
Bowler shall be limited to two bouncers per over, any more shall be
called a no ball. A bouncer is defined as a ball that passes
over the
shoulder of the batsman standing in his normal batting stance.
E Any delivery that passes above the waist of the batsman in his
normal
batting stance on the full shall be called a no ball.
F Fielding
restrictions (as described below) shall apply to the first 12 overs in 45 over
matches and 10 overs (Field restriction Overs, FRO) in 40 over matches:-
(i) During the FRO
above only two fieldsmen are permitted to be outside the field restriction marking which
equates to two semi circles drawn in a 30 yard arc from each middle stump and
connected by straight lines on either side.
(ii) After the FRO a maximum of five (5) fieldsmen
may be outside the field restriction
marking.
(iii) In the FRO there must be a minimum of two
stationary fieldsmen within 15 yards
of the striker at the instant of delivery.
(iv) At all times
during the innings a maximum of 5 fielders may be on the leg side at the instant of delivery.
Note: Circles will only be provided in
finals matches and for all other matches captains are required to seek clarity
from the umpire as to the fielders compliance with
this rule and the umpires decision will be final.
In
the event of an infringement, the square leg umpire shall call and signal no
ball.
G Wide Bowling- Judging A
Wide
Any off side or high or leg side delivery which in the
opinion of the umpire does not give the batsmen a reasonable opportunity to
score shall be called a wide. As a guide, on the leg side a line will be
painted 450mm from the middle stump on each side of the wicket. Any ball which
passes on or outside this line as it passes the stumps shall be deemed a wide.
The
above provisions do not apply if the striker makes contact with the ball.
H Should
rain interrupt a match every effort is to be made to complete the match by
either scoring the required runs or being dismissed. To achieve a result both
teams must have either been bowled out or received the allocated maximum number
of overs. In the event that the maximum number of overs or a result is not
achieved by
I Dress Code
All players are to wear creams or whites (including
shorts) ONLY. Socks must also be
predominantly white. Any player not dressed in accordance with this rule is not
to be permitted to take part in the match until appropriately dressed.
J In
second grade only, a team may
nominate 12 players to take part in the match. The captain must nominate a
batting 11 and a bowling 11 prior to the toss, ie
nominate which player will not be bowling (not wicketkeeper) and which player
will not be batting. Should a team name 12 players and only 11 players are
present at the start of the match the designated non batter or bowler
previously nominated can fully participate provided the opposing captain and
umpires are advised prior to the first ball of the day.
11 Final Series
The three leading teams on the
points table will contest the final series.
The minor premiers go straight into the Grand Final
with teams two and three playing off to play in the Grand Final. All finals
shall be played under the same format and conditions as the normal preliminary
matches in the respective grades.
In the event of no result or a tie being achieved the
team finishing highest on the competition ladder shall be declared the winner
and progress to the next week or be declared premiers.
